The full cost of a course will be forfeited for cancellations received within seven (7) days of the scheduled course date. Prior to seven (7) days the full cost of a course (minus a 5% non-refundable deposit) will be refunded.
The full cost of specialty guiding trips will be forfeited for cancellations received within twenty-eight (28) days of the scheduled trip. Cancelling a specialty guiding trip from fifty-six (56) days to twenty-eight (28) days prior to a scheduled trip date will forfeit fifty percent (50%) of the trip cost. Prior to fifty-six (56) days the full cost of a specialty guiding trip (minus a 5% non-refundable deposit) will be refunded.
Prescheduled Course Policy
In the event of extreme weather conditions that are likely to affect the ability of the guide to run a prescheduled weekend course, Vancouver Mountain Guides will contact participants the day before the scheduled program to discuss postponement options. If a participant is unable to postpone to a later date and VMG is canceling the course, the participant will receive a full refund (100%).
There will be no morning cancellations prior to the program date. It is important to note that there are a number of venues in Squamish that stay dry in light rain and allow instruction of many climbing skills. However, very wet conditions can cause a few of our programs to be cancelled at the discretion of the guide.
If participants have concerns about the weather before their scheduled course, they are encouraged to contact VMG the day before the course. Since other participants may be affected by weather postponements, it's important to have plenty of time to contact people to discuss options. Messages will not be returned outside of business hours (8-4pm).
Specialty Guiding Trips & Private Guiding Policies
There is more flexibility for weather postponements and cancellations with specialty guiding trips and private guiding programs. All registrants in the private programs will be provided with contact information for their guide so that weather concerns and last minute postponements may be discussed in the event of extreme weather.
It is important to note that there are many objectives in the mountains that are still achievable with inclement weather. All weather decisions and objectives are subject to the discretion of your guide.
Mountain weather is unpredictable in all seasons and is a constant factor that shapes the decisions we make before and during our programs. It would not be practical for us to refund every situation where our guests do not get the weather conditions they hope for so we make every effort to develop alternative plans. If you have a single objective in mind (such as a peak or route) we cannot guarantee that the conditions or weather will allow an attempt of that objective. We will work diligently to give you the best experience with the conditions we face at the time.
TERMS OF SERVICE
All participants are required to read, understand, and sign a waiver of liability in the presence of their guide (not ahead of time). Those under the age of 19 years must have a parent or legal guardian co-sign their waiver. Medical information must be documented before the course start day (medical conditions, allergies). The participation of any person in any program is continually subject to the discretion of Vancouver Mountain Guides.
Methods of Payment
We accept most credit cards, eTransfers (firstname.lastname@example.org), and Apple Pay. Credit card payments are easiest to process. If paying substantial amounts from overseas you may get a better exchange rate by sending us a bank draft or making an Electronic Fund Transfer in your own currency. We can supply our bank details on request.
Prices are in Canadian Dollars. US dollar and other currency exchange rates fluctuate constantly. Use the Exchange Calculator to calculate how much our programs cost in your currency.
All prices are subject to change.
Listed prices do not include tax. An additional 5% Federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be added to the program total. We will apply the appropriate tax rate when you book.
A non-refundable deposit of 5% is charged for all programs, trips, and private guiding. In the event that Vancouver Mountain Guides cancels a prescheduled course due to extreme weather conditions we guarantee 100% refund (no deposit held back).
